Being a big fan of deck building games I’m always interested in trying new takes on the concept. So I was excited to find that Dice Settlers was exactly that. Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North is a stand alone game set in the Imperial Settlers universe. It’s not compatible with the original Imperial Settlers game. Created by Ignacy Trzewiczek it does share some mechanisms with its predecessor, and is still very much a tableau / engine building game. But what’s it like? And is it any good? You’ll soon find out.
Little Town is a charming little worker placement game. IELLO cleary aimed it at families and the more casual gamers, but I feel it also has enough meat on the bone to work as a filler for enthusiasts. It’s simple and easy to teach and plays in less than 45 minutes. Read on to hear my thoughts on it.

Fertility is a very straightforward and charming game about placing domino style tiles on common board to obtain resources (Alabaster, Bovines, Papyrus flowers and Grapes), that you then spend to develop your own personal board with district tiles. Resources gained don’t carry over to the next round, so you have to have the right empty spots on your district titles to be able to store them.
Tiny Towns is a quick puzzle of a game, featuring pattern matching and town building. Players take turns choosing 1 of the games 5 different resources that they then place on their own 4 x 4 grid. Every other player has to take the same resource and place it as well. So why are people doing this?
2018 was yet another great year for board games. As the industry expands and more and more people get into the hobby so does the selection of great and diverse games. There are fantastic games for every taste now. It is just a matter of finding out what you like and then trying them out. These are my Top 6 Games of 2018.

Yamataï… A strange name for a game that’s both beautiful to look at and to play. But nevertheless that is exactly what it is, a true beauty. In Yamataï you’ll spend your turn acquiring ships and placing them on the main board to build buildings and score points. But watch out, each move you make might help your opponents out too.
Dávid Turczi is one of the most diverse designers out there. He keeps on making completely different games with different themes and mechanism.
