As Indiana Jones once said, “If you want to be a good archaeologist, you gotta get out of the library.” If Indiana Jones is right, then how about getting out of the library and into Valley of the Kings, by Tom Cleaver and AEG. I mean technically you could play it in a library and you aren’t really doing any archaeology, but I’d rather play a game than actually dig for artefacts. Does Valley of the Kings: Premium Edition make me feel like a true archaeologist?
Thar’s gold in them thar hills. Wait, what’s that you say? It’s Bloom Town, not Boom Town? Oh, one second then… Thar’s flowers in them thar hills. Is that better? All puns aside, Bloom Town by Sidekick Games, is all about building the best town and the way you do it, is unlike most tile placement games I’ve ever played. So, what makes it so unique?
I’ve hiked many trails in my life, but never one like the Trails of Tucana. As far as I know Tucana is a fictional location, which is good, because apparently it is full of sea dragons and yetis. I have no desire to hike a trail as dangerous as that one, The question is, is bushwhacking trails in Aporta Games’ Trails of Tucana a different story?
Born among the wealthy, with a silver spoon in my mouth, I was made for a game about the aristocracy. These are my people, so of course I had to play Aristocracy by Dr. Reiner Knizia and Tasty Minstrel Games. The secret is, I’m not really part of the aristocracy, but what they don’t know won’t hurt them. Join with me to take the place of the aristocracy and con your way in among the elite of society.
Ever thought about running away and joining the circus, or perhaps starting your very own circus? No? Well, me either. But just in case you want to see what it would be like, The Magnificent can show you. In The Magnificent by Aporta Games you are running your own traveling circus, going from town to town, setting up tents, hiring performers and making the greatest show on Earth.
It is well known that points salads are my game groups favorite kind of salad. We love to play games where the points come from a bunch of different options. In Point Salad, the game, that is exactly what happens, but what is unique is everyone chooses for themselves how their salad will score them points.
Thar’s gold in them thar hills! And what’s mining for gold without a little poker? End of the Trail puts you in charge of finding the best gold claims and seeing how much extra you can win with a little … Continued
Who are you? Who will you become? What will make you who you are? We all have our own back stories in real life; the major events and people who have shaped our lives and helped us become who we are today. Truth be told, most of our stories are probably not super epic, but in Call to Adventure you get to create an epic story for your character unlike any of us have ever lived.
