In Lorenzo il Magnifico you play as the head of a noble family during the Italian renaissance. You spend your turns acquiring territory, buildings and people who will work for you. You will generate various resources and do your best to turn them into points, while trying to keep a good standing with the church.
I picked up Undercover at Essen SPIEL ’16, right after playing it there. Since then I have already played it numerous times. Undercover is a fun abstract tile laying and flipping game. It has a somewhat pasted on theme about being agents, or double agents, and setting up meetings with other agents. The game takes around 30 minutes and plays (well) with 2 to 4 players.
Recently I played a couple of games of The City. It’s a small card game for 2-5 players designed by Thomas Lehmann. Well known for To Court the King and Race for the Galaxy. In this card game players build a city by placing building cards in front of them. The first player to reach 50 points wins this quick game.
